Famous Java security guard who opened doors for protesters during the anti-finance bill 2024 demos in Nairobi has allegedly been fired.

This has been revealed by popular protester Shadrack Kipromo famously known as Shad Khalif.

According to Khalif, the security guard was allegedly fired by his employer Hatari security to which he alleged it’s because of the decision he took on June 18 where intense clashes between demonstrators and the police took center stage leading many protesters to seek refuge the said Java restaurant.

“On Day One of the protests, a courageous security guard from Hatari Security at Java House Kimathi gave us shelter, ensuring our safety. Today, he was heartlessly fired when he reported to work. This selfless act of bravery should be celebrated, not punished,” He posted on X.

“We implore Hatari Security to reconsider their decision. Or even better If anyone has job opportunities for this hero, please reach out. He deserves our support and gratitude,”

“They terminated him via word of mouth when he reported for work today man. Mjamaa alireport asubuhi akaambiwa leta uniform,”

After this incident well-wishers from across the country began to show their appreciation through donations.

The guard received over 100,000 shillings in contributions.

Who is Shad Khalif?

Khalif who has been vocal against the proposed Finance Bill was also abducted from a shopping centre in South B, Nairobi and later released.

The Law Society of Kenya condemned Kiprono’s abduction saying it was unconstitutional.

Family and friends said Khalif was missing after his abduction by unknown people who had trailed him to the area.

In a statement on Monday, LSK President Faith Odhiambo called for the immediate release of Khalif.

“Yesterday evening, another innocent young Kenyan fell victim to the draconian tactics of suspected police officers. Shadrack Kiprono was violently abducted by unidentified persons believed to be intelligence officers in South B while getting into his vehicle,” LSK President Faith Odhiambo said.
