As an actor, Lloyd appeared on the television sitcom "One on One" and in the TV One biopic film "The Bobby DeBarge Story."

N-Toon

Lloyd began his music career as a member of the preteen boy band N-Toon, which was created in 1996 by singer-songwriter and musician Joyce Irby. Solo Career

Lloyd launched his solo recording career in 2004 with the release of his debut album, "Southside." Preceded by the hit lead single of the same name, featuring Ashanti, the album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 and number three on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. After a hiatus, Lloyd released his second album, "Street Love," in early 2007. The biggest commercial success of his career, it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and spawned the hit single "You," featuring Lil Wayne. The second single, "Get it Shawty," was also successful. Lloyd went on to release his third album, "Lessons in Love," in the summer of 2008. The album debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and launched the singles "Girls Around the World" and "Year of the Lover." In 2009, Lloyd appeared on Young Money's single "BedRock," which became one of his biggest hits when it reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2010, Lloyd signed with Interscope Records. The next year, he released his fourth studio album, "King of Hearts," which debuted at number ten on the Billboard 200. Three singles were released from the album: "Lay it Down," "Cupid," and "Dedication to My Ex (Miss That)." Although the lattermost song performed only averagely in the United States, it became Lloyd's biggest commercial hit internationally, peaking in the top five in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Lloyd subsequently released his first mixtape, "The Playboy Diaries," featuring appearances by Lil Wayne, Trae tha Truth, and August Alsina, among others. Following a considerable break from recording, Lloyd released the EP "Tru" in late 2016. In the summer of 2018, he released a studio album of the same name. The album featured guest appearances by Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and the Spelman Women's Choir, among others.
