Atlantic City airport travelers have safest, cheapest airline, report says
Flights in and out of Atlantic City are the safest, and the best bargain, according to a recent ranking of U.S. airlines.
Spirit Airlines is the No. 1 U.S. airline for safety and affordability, according to a WalletHub Best Airlines of 2024 list.
Florida-based Spirit Airlines is the only carrier at Atlantic City International Airport.
The discount carrier also has service out of most other airports in the region, including Philadelphia International and Newark Liberty.
The airline also notched the No. 3 spot for best overall U.S. airline.
WalletHub, a Miami-based personal finance company, compared the nine largest U.S. airlines, plus one regional carrier, across 13 important metrics.
Those metrics range from delay and cancellation rates to in-flight comfort, safety, reliability, affordability, baggage mishaps and more.
Alaska Airlines was listed as the No. 1 overall airline, while SkyWest Airlines was No. 2 overall and Spirit Airlines No. 3 overall. Delta got the fourth overall spot and tied with JetBlue for most comfortable airlines.
These were the top 10 safest airlines according to WalletHub’s list. The company evaluated the airlines based on the number of aviation accidents, injuries and fatalities in the accidents and age of the planes used.
