Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool is shrouded in uncertainty, given his prolonged scoring drought, recent social media activity and speculation surrounding his future with the club, despite having a lengthy contract until 2028.

A missed opportunity during a 4-2 victory over Tottenham further fueled doubts about his place within the team.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refuted transfer talks involving Nunez, asserting that no such discussions had taken place within the team.

However, given the uncertainty surrounding his future, it remains to be seen whether Nunez will remain at Liverpool.

“There’s no speculation, it must be external speculation because I don’t know about it,” he stated to reporters.

Nunez, according to Klopp, has been “unlucky” in a lot of circumstances but was still placing himself in scoring positions.

“He’s doing everything right and then the ball still doesn’t go in and that’s really tough for a young man,” he stated.

“If we are 100 percent honest, is that the season where we were the best team in the league?” he replied. “We had our moments; against Man City, we played the best game of our history, but we came up short.

“The margins are always thin. These kinds of games can open doors if you win them. We didn’t win, and when it appeared like we were struggling at initially, we were severely penalized.”

Klopp needs to stay off the yellow card against Villa in order to be allowed to see his final game as the club’s manager, which is against Wolves at Anfield, next week.

“I don’t need to (be on the touchline) but it would be cool,” he replied. “I will try absolutely everything to not get involved in any kind of discussions.”

According to statistics from the English top division, reported by France 24, the Uruguayan has scored 18 goals this season across all competitions, but he has also wasted 27 “big chances” in the Premier League.
