Over 10,000 council pensioners, 5,000 operatives of State Security Network get free health insurance cover

Edo State government has commenced free enrollment of operatives of the Edo State Security Network and local government pensioners across the state into the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme

The Director of ICT, Edo Health Insurance Commission, Mr. Efemwenkiekie Nosa Nesta, said the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki directed that the scheme be extended to the two categories of users to ensure inclusion and wider spread of the programme.

According to Nesta, “The exercise will capture over 5000 vigilantes and over 10,000 Local Government pensioners across the 18 Local Government Areas in the State.

“The enrollment will capture operatives of the Edo State Security Network, the Local Government pensioners and the State Government pensioners that were unable to register during the last exercise.

“You can recall that late last year, the Edo State pensioners were captured into the system. He has extended the goodwill to Edo State Security Network members and the Local Government pensioners. We will capture them into our system so that they can start receiving care under the scheme”.

During a monitoring of the ongoing enrollment in Egor Local Government Secretariat, a beneficiary, Chief Edogun Bright, the Edogun of Benin Kingdom, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked Governor Obaseki for approving their inclusion in the scheme.
