Why AC Milan no longer want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea

AC Milan now look highly unlikely to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka this summer.

The Italian giants were thought to be keen on bringing him to the San Siro, but it does not seem like a deal is going to happen during this transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Carney Chukwuemeka was happy at Chelsea, so AC Milan always had their work cut out for them.

Chukwuemeka was only able to make nine appearances in the Premier League last season because of injury.

The 20-year-old will now be hoping for a much better campaign under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Carney Chukwuemeka unlikely to join AC Milan this summer

Milan have signed quite a few players from Chelsea in recent years.

Last summer, for example, the Serie A outfit bought both Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the Blues.

However, it does not look like they will be bringing in their former teammate Chukwuemeka despite having looked at him.

According to TEAMtalk, while Milan were interested in Chukwuemeka, they have now cooled their interest because of how much money Chelsea are demanding.

The same outlet claims that Chelsea are unwilling to sell the England youth international for less than his £40m release clause.

Are Chelsea demanding too much money for Carney Chukwuemeka?

Chelsea signed Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20m back in 2022.

He is still only 20 years of age and has a lot of potential. The Chelsea youngster can also play a couple of positions, central midfielder and attacking midfielder.

It is only normal, then, for the Blues to try and make a profit on Chukwuemeka.

Milan, though, clearly cannot afford to sign Chukwuemeka, but that is not Chelsea’s concern.

Perhaps in the future they could sell Chukwuemeka to another Premier League club for £40m, with there being way more money in English football than in Italian football. But for now, with Paulo Fonseca’s side seemingly off the table, the former Villa player looks likely to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer.
