Which Barca players have a point to prove during the last six games?

Fermin Lopez of FC Barcelona celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on April 21, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.

Barcelona’s season is effectively over ahead of the final six games of the campaign but there are still a host of players with something to prove before the end of the season.

Let’s have a look at who will be eagerly hoping for minutes, starting on Monday against Valencia.

Vitor Roque

The Brazilian’s lack of game time since arriving in January has been a little bemusing to say the least. He’s made only two starts, playing less than 300 minutes, which begs the question why make such an effort to bring him in during the winter when funds were so tight?

That aside, Vitor Roque is one player who will certainly be hoping for more minutes over the coming weeks. He didn’t feature at all against Real Madrid or PSG and hasn’t scored a goal for Barcelona since all the way back in February.

Fermin Lopez

Fermin Lopez has enjoyed a decent season which has seen him promoted to the first team and score seven goals in all competitions despite being mainly used off the bench by Xavi in the first team.

The absence of Frenkie de Jong through injury will offer up a spot in midfield, and Fermin will be hoping to take full advantage. His goal in El Clasico last time out should give him plenty of confidence and he’ll be hoping to show he deserves more game time next season.

Hector Fort

Hector Fort looks to be a serious option at right-back for next season. The teenager has impressed during his eight appearances during the current campaign, playing on both sides of the defence.

With doubts seemingly growing over Joao Cancelo’s future at the club, the position of right-back may be up for grabs. Jules Kounde is the preferred option right now but he made no secret of the fact he’d much rather be playing in the middle.

The Joaos

Both Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix are running out of time to convince Barcelona they deserve to stay at the club for next season. Cancelo has had a pretty dire week up against PSG and Madrid which surely puts a big question mark over his future.

Felix is another player who is facing an uncertain future. The Atletico loanee has scored 10 goals for Barca but has become something of an impact sub after seeing Raphinha and Lamine Yamal become first choice in attack with Robert Lewandowski.

Keeping hold of both players will be expensive business for Barcelona, and as things stand it doesn’t look as though either has done enough to convince the Catalans to splash out.
