PHOTOS: Nigeria Army engages school students on military career paths

The Nigerian Army, 81 division, engaged with secondary school students in two events across Lagos and Ogun states.

The events, which happened on Tuesday, enlightened students from several secondary schools on possible career paths in the military.

It was held at HOMAT Group of Schools in Ikorodu, Lagos, and Lafenwa High School, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

Other schools that participated in the events are ENODAB Rainbow School and Sky Top College, in Ikorodu, Lagos.

OO Ayeni, acting deputy director, said the project commemorated the 2024 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) and its 161st anniversary.

Ayeni said the event showcased the army’s contributions to national security and commitment to professionalism.

In his address, OD Bamiteko, acting director of education services at the army, said the programme aimed to positively influence the perception and attitude of the youth towards the army.

Bamiteko said it also created an opportunity to enlighten the students on various career paths open to them in the army.

The highlight of the event includes the showcasing of a documentary on the army’s history as well as its conduct of kinetic and non-kinetic lines of operation in support of civil authority.

Other activities included a lecture delivered by MM Marwa, the team leader, and a snap quiz competition.

The event also featured an interactive session between members of the public speaking engagement team and the students.

Souvenirs and branded books were presented to participants and the management of the host schools.
