Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced that his administration has disbursed over N275 million from public and private donors to victims of the Tudun Biri military drone attack. On Friday, Governor Sani disclosed this during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflicts (RSPIC) at Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government Area.

Governor Sani appealed to individuals and organizations that made pledges following the December 2023 incident to fulfil their commitments. Vice President Kashim Shatima inaugurated the resettlement scheme, later joining other officials, including Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, for Juma’at prayers.

In his speech, Governor Sani expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for selecting Tudun Biri for the resettlement scheme’s groundbreaking ceremony. He praised the President’s dedication to aiding those affected by conflicts.

“Our profound appreciation to our dear President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for picking Tudun Biri for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflicts. This clearly demonstrates Mr. President’s commitment to wiping off the tears of the Tudun Biri people and, indeed, the poor, vulnerable, and underserved in our country. Mr. President feels the pains of the internally displaced persons and all those affected by conflicts in our country. He recognizes that decent accommodation and essential infrastructure are critical to preserving human dignity,” Governor Sani said.

He continued, “We have disbursed over N275,000,000 from money donated by individuals, public, and private institutions. I want to use this opportunity to appeal to all who made pledges to please redeem them, as Mr. President and the Vice President have done.”

Governor Sani outlined that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) will oversee the project, which includes building four resettlement communities in Igabi, Ikara, Giwa, and Kauru LGAs. These communities will feature houses, hospitals, and schools to help the victims start anew.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to address the needs of internally displaced persons and improve their living conditions in Kaduna State.
