Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has posted an open and honest message to his followers on social media following Denmark’s exit from Euro 2024.

The Danes were beaten 2-0 by tournament hosts Germany on Saturday evening in a match that was heavily disrupted by freak weather.

A couple of controversial VAR decisions also influenced the result: firstly, to disallow Joachim Andersen’s ‘goal’ early in the second half.

Moments later, the Crystal Palace defender was then judged to have handled the ball inside his area, resulting in Kai Havertz scoring a penalty.

Germany doubled their lead through Jamal Musiala and Denmark could not respond, resulting in their exit from the competition at the last-16 stage.

Hojlund started all four of the Danes’ matches alongside his United team-mate Christian Eriksen. Via his official Instagram account, he has reflected on the experience with candour.

“To be honest I didn’t really know what to expect from my first Euros,” writes Rasmus.
