MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) - An investigation is underway in Middletown after police say a body was found in a trash can.

The body of the unidentified person was found shortly after 11 a.m. on July 1, according to the Middletown Police Department.

Officers were called to an address on Centennial Street, near the Elm Street intersection, for a report of a possible deceased person, police explained.

Police arrived and found the body in a trash can in the alley, the department said.

The Butler County Coroner’s Office responded and took possession of the body, according to Middletown police.
