France beat Belgium by a lone goal in an explosive encounter in Germany on Monday to qualify for the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

Randal Kolo Muani was the hero of the match as he scored the only goal for France in the 85th minute of the match.

N’Golo Kante played the ball to Muani, whose deflected shot from inside the box went past the helpless Koen Casteels to make it 1-0.

Earlier in the 24th minute, Kevin De Bruyne released a promising shot from the set piece low towards the middle of the target, but Mike Maignan made a save to deny him.

In the 34th minute, Jules Kounde played a hopeful lofted pass into the box. Marcus Thuram luckily got his head to the ball and sent it narrowly wide of the right post from near the penalty spot.

In the 49th minute, Aurelien Tchouameni produced a ferocious strike from the edge of the box. His dangerous effort towards the bottom right corner was blocked by Koen Casteels, who pulled off a superb save to keep the ball out of the net.

Three minutes later, Jules Kounde clipped a neat ball into the box towards Marcus Thuram, whose header from the centre of the box went narrowly over the crossbar.

Yannick Carrasco, in the 51st minute missed a good chance to score. An inch-perfect cross into the box found Carrasco who rose for a header, but sent the ball well over the bar.

Late in the game, Romelu Lukaku darted into the penalty area to latch on to a pass, and he unleashed a shot towards the middle of the net, but Mike Maignan was alert and denies him.
