National Patriotic Elders Forum of Nigeria (NPEFN) has thrown its support on the position taken by Vice President Kashim Shettima against alleged moves by the Sokoto State Government, to dethrone the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar.

This was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday, after a meeting held in Kano, by the President of the Forum, Dr Bature AbdulAziz, who described the position taken by the Vice President as the best as an elder who wants goods for his People’s.

He said; “For now with Vice President Kashim Shettima, statement on the issue, he has spoken the mind of the North, and the region is now safe and will henceforth speak with one voice on matters that disturbed it”.

Dr. Bature AbdulAziz stated that “Vice President’s quick response to the matter of Sultan Saad Abubakar and the speculation surrounding his throne, is a glaring one that every sensible mind will support in the Northern Nigeria region”.

According to him, ” The vice President’s actions on urgent matters show that the government of President Ahmad Bola Tinubu is serious with the wellbeing of the Nigerian Citizens and what is concerned.

“It is clear to us that the government of President Tinubu means well for Nigerians and the issues of Traditional Leaders, and we are hundreds percent behind their positions, we are loyal Elders who believe in good governance like that of the present dispensation”.

Bature explained that the cordiality and understanding that is between the Vice President and his boss President Tinubu, is a welcome development that will usher Nigeria to greater heights, and this should not be a joke.

“We would like to appeal to all and sundry to adhere to the Position of the Vice President and remain peaceful because that is the only yardstick of development, as elders we only cherish what is good for Nigerians”.
