MSNBC Analyst Trashes Dems Pushing ‘Open Casting Call’ to Replace Biden, Rather Than Kamala Harris: ‘Stokes More Chaos’

Political strategist and MSNBC analyst Basil Smikle accused Democrats pushing an “open casting call” to find a replacement for President Joe Biden on the Democratic Party ticket over Vice President Kamala Harris of stoking “chaos.”

Smikle argued on MSNBC on Wednesday that Democrats should have been pushing another narrative after last week’s CNN debate between Biden and Donald Trump, rather than some openly calling for Biden to be replaced with another Democrat.

“I’m a former state party ED so I may get in trouble for the things I’m about to say, but the reality is I hate this open casting call. It’s angering,” Smikle said. “I can understand acknowledging that the president didn’t have a good debate, but Democrats should be out there saying that on Joe Biden’s worst day, he is orders of magnitude better than Donald Trump on his best day. Why is that not the prevailing narrative that’s coming out of that debate?”

Smikle criticized calls to replace Biden, but argued if those debates are to take place, Harris should be the first and last name out of everyone’s mouths. Smikle said the vice president suffers from low polling because she’s been “diminished” in the media, causing a lack of confidence in both her and the president.

“The reality is if you’re even going to have a conversation about who’s next. If Kamala Harris, the sitting vice president, is not the first and last name out of your mouth then tell me how you’re going to get Black voters to engage when you change the rules to accommodate somebody other than her?” he said.

Talk of replacing Biden will only backfire, Smikle continued.

“All of this conversation to me just stokes more chaos, more concern, more uncertainty among voters and gives Donald Trump and his campaign an opening to say, ‘look at what the Democrats are doing, they don’t have it together,'” he said.
