KWSG distributes 3,000 protective kits to butchers, abattoir workers, others

The Kwara Government on Friday in Ilorin commenced the distribution of 3,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to livestock farmers and value-chain operators in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gesture is a programme under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES).

The distribution, which took place at the Olusola Saraki Abattoir at Akerebiata, was attended by elders and members of the Kwara State Butchers Union, market leaders and other stakeholders.

In his remarks, the State Project Coordinator, Mr Olusoji Oyawoye, said the PPE kits were for the safety of livestock farmers, butchers, meat processors and other value-chain players in the sector.

Oyawoye, represented by Mr Raphael Awoyemi, urged the beneficiaries to ensure a judicious use of the kits with a view to spurring government to do more towards improving their businesses.

The Seriki Fawa of the market, Alhaji Suleiman Seriki, thanked the state governor, Malam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara L-PRES Coordination Office, and other development partners for the kind gesture.

He assured that the items and other facilities in the market would be well protected.

The State Chairman of the Butchers Union, Alhaji Mohammed Dangote, assured the World Bank and the state government of their support to eradicate poverty in the country.
