A round-up of the latest Arsenal news as Ian Wright reveals a regret about Manchester United and Sergio Aguero shares his view on the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes.

Arsenal mark Jean-Clair Todibo as their top defensive transfer target

Arsenal are looking to rival Liverpool and Manchester United to get the transfer of OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo. Gunners chiefs are keen to secure further depth for Mikel Arteta as the manager has leaned heavily on William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes so far this term.

Todibo has now emerged as one of Arsenal’s top targets along with AFC Ajax prospect Jorrel Hato. That is according to London World, which reports that Arsenal view the 24-year-old as their top centre-back target. But Arteta must rival vast interest from Premier League teams.

Liverpool and Manchester United are also set to target Todibo when the transfer window is open. He has merited their interest after helping Nice to set Ligue 1’s best defensive record with 25 goals conceded in 31 games. Todibo is also keen to leave Les Aiglons in the summer.

Ian Wright admits what is ‘not fun’ about Arsenal possibly beating Manchester United

Highbury hero Ian Wright believes Arsenal have all they need to beat Manchester United on Sunday. But he admits that watching the Red Devils in freefall is not a pleasing sight. The Old Trafford team are eighth in the Premier League table after two wins in their last 10 matches.

Erik ten Hag has only overseen wins over relegation-threatened teams Everton and Sheffield United since February 24. Crystal Palace even dealt the Red Devils a 4-0 defeat this Monday that slipped Manchester United behind Chelsea due to their goal difference of minus three.

Manchester United have also lost 13 and won 16 of their 35 Premier League matches ahead of facing Arsenal. So, Wright backs the Gunners to seal only their second win at Old Trafford since 2006. But Arsenal beating Manchester United will not afford Wright the same delights.

“But at the same time, it’s not fun watching Manchester United that is falling so fast.”

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has backed his former side to win the Premier League title ahead of Arsenal. The Gunners top the standings to the Citizens after 36 games. But the Etihad Stadium outfit are just a point behind their north London rivals with a fixture in hand.

It would be a record fourth successive title if Manchester City utilise their game in hand and claim another trophy. Pep Guardiola’s side still have to play Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, while Mikel Arteta’s squad travel to Manchester United and host Everton.

Arsenal will do all they can to push Manchester City to the wire in search of their first title in 20 years. But Aguero feels the Gunners will fall short as they need too much to go their way. Manchester City also have the experience of lifting five of the past six Premier League titles.

“I think Man City, maybe, [will] win the Premier League because Arsenal have to win every game,” Aguero told The Club. “So, I think Man City can do it.”
