COURT: Orangeburg man gets probation for pointing gun at someone
A 74-year-old Orangeburg man received probation after he pleaded guilty to pointing and presenting a firearm at a person.
Earl Livingston, of 739 Norway Road, was originally charged with attempted murder.
Circuit Judge Maite Murphy sentenced him to one year in prison, suspended to probation for six months. She credited Livingston for serving two days in jail.
Livingston was also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, but it was dismissed.
In other recent guilty pleas in general sessions court at Orangeburg County Courthouse:
Murphy sentenced him to 49 days in jail and credited him for time served.
Murphy sentenced him to 30 days in jail if a $100 fine isn’t paid within three months.
She credited him for serving two days in jail.
Murphy sentenced him to 30 days in jail if he didn’t pay a $200 fine in 30 days. She credited Mahoney for serving two days in jail.
Mahoney was charged with these two offenses, but they were dismissed: first-offense uninsured motor vehicle fee and first-offense driving under suspension license not suspended for driving under the influence.
Murphy sentenced him to 10 years in prison, suspended to probation for three years.
She ordered him to complete substance abuse counseling and undergo random drug/alcohol testing.
McCullough faced the following charges, but they were dismissed: unlawful carrying of a pistol and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Murphy sentenced him to prison for six months, suspended to probation for one year.
She ordered Murray to complete substance abuse counseling and undergo random drug/alcohol testing.
Murphy sentenced him to jail for 30 days if he doesn’t pay a $100 fine in four months.
Murphy sentenced him to 90 days in jail, suspended to probation for one year, crediting him for serving four days in jail.
During a term of general sessions court held at the Orangeburg County Courthouse, Lavance Parker Hughes III, 44, of 905 Bayview St., Holly Hill, pleaded guilty to first-offense distribution of methamphetamine, although he was originally charged with first-offense trafficking in more than 10 grams but less than 28 grams of methamphetamine.
She ordered him to obtain his GED, complete substance abuse counseling and undergo random drug/alcohol testing.
Murphy sentenced him to three years in prison, suspended to probation for one year. She credited Richburg for serving two days in jail.

Murphy sentenced him to jail for 208 days and credited him for time served.
Murphy sentenced him to prison for one year, suspended to probation for one year. She credited Robinson for serving one day in jail.
