A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police say he fired a gun during a parking lot altercation and then brought a shotgun into a southeast Austin bar.

John Vasquez Jr. faces multiple weapons charges and drug possession after the incident at the Clicks Billiards located at 2121 E. Oltorf Street, according to Austin police.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at the bar where witnesses later told police Vasquez fired a shot in the air during a fight with three men in the parking lot. After the men left, Vasquez allegedly retrieved a shotgun from his car and entered the bar.

When police first arrived, they found Vasquez inside with his hands up. He told officers, "It's me, the shotgun is back there," gesturing to the rear of the business.

A search of Vasquez's car uncovered six additional firearms, including five handguns and a Mini Drako, police said. Officers also found 0.51 ounces of marijuana in the vehicle, court documents said.

Vasquez was charged with unlawful carrying of weapons, discharging a firearm within city limits, and bringing a weapon into a business that derives more than 51% of its income from alcohol sales.
