Prince Harry and Prince William were left a significant portion of their mother's belongings following her tragic death in a car accident, but they are to miss being given Althorp Estate.

Princess Diana tragically lost her life in a fatal crash in Paris on August 31, 1997, as her driver Henri Paul attempted to evade the paparazzi. Both Henri and Diana's boyfriend Dodi Fayed also died in the accident.

Harry and William inherited the majority of Diana's £13million fortune after the fatal incident, along with much of her jewellery. However, the brothers will not inherit their mother's childhood home, Althorp Estate, which will instead pass to an actor.

The property, which has been part of the Spencer family since 1508, will be inherited by Harry and William's cousin Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp. Louis is the son of Diana's brother Earl Charles Spencer.

Despite having three older sisters, Louis will be the one to inherit the estate due to the aristocracy's system of primogeniture, where titles are passed down to the eldest male. Althorp Estate, where Diana was raised and later laid to rest, opens its doors to visitors every summer.

After studying at the University of Edinburgh, Louis began his acting career at a drama school in Chiswick, London. He is currently represented by Tavistock Wood talent agency. In 2022, he starred on reality TV show, Celebs on the Ranch.

An inside source revealed to The Telegraph: "He's super private and gets on quietly with his thing. He's a very talented actor and, I think, will be a brilliant one. You'd like him. He's very low-key and genuine, decent and kind and tall."

Meanwhile, Louis is already getting involved in the future management of Althorp Estate, as the 30 year old has been participating in Trustee meetings. His sister Kitty Spencer has publicly acknowledged the inheritance situation.

Speaking to Town and Country magazine, she expressed her thoughts: "Primogeniture can be a tricky topic, because as times are changing, attitudes are as well. We've grown up understanding that it's Louis to inherit, and Louis will do an incredible job."
