Inter Consider Audacious Move for Ex-Napoli Defender

Serie A champions Inter reportedly plot an audacious bid to lure Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae back to Italy. According to Gazzetta dello Sport via MiaSanMia, the Italians are enthusiastic about the prospect of signing the former Napoli star.

Inter tracked Kim before he swapped Fenerbahce for the Diego Maradona Stadium in 2022. But the South Korea international chose Napoli over them. It proved a pinpoint decision as he helped the Partenopei wrap up their first Scudetto in 33 years in his only season at the club.

After a remarkable 2022/23 campaign, Bayern Munich priced him out of Napoli, activating his €58 million release clause to bring him to the Allianz Arena. However, the 27-year-old failed to replicate his Napoli form in the Bundesliga and could be allowed to join Inter for the right price.

With his contract in Munich running out in 2028, the Bavarians must be confident about recouping their investment. Inter, on the other hand, won’t come anywhere near the €58m threshold. Simone Inzaghi would only sign Kim as a replacement for Stefan de Vrij.

The Dutchman’s deal expires at the end of next season. Since Inter have yet to offer the former Lazio defender a new contract, there’s a chance he could leave Giuseppe Meazza this summer. De Vrij’s exit would open the door for a new center-back, with Kim ticking all the boxes for the type of player Inter would be looking to recruit.
