"Dog Days," by Midview High School student Hunter Crum, is on display through July 20 at the Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway St.

MEDINA, Ohio -- The Medina Library, 210 S. Broadway St., regularly hosts art shows featuring the work of individuals or groups.

The B Smith Gallery on the third floor currently holds a display of creative works by students in grades K-12.

The artworks were collected by Erin Kraly of the Northeast Ohio Art Education Association from schools in a 10-county area. The show will be on display until July 20.

This portrait of Edgar Allan Poe, titled "The Raven," was created by Brunswick Middle School student Ingrid Reynolds.

Seventy-seven pieces of mixed media reproductions hang on the display panels, demonstrating that children are amazingly creative and talented.

Unlike most shows that feature original artwork, these pieces have been photographed and reproduced to preserve the originals for the artists.

Each piece of art is identified by a title, the artist’s name and grade in school, the original medium, his or her teacher’s name and the name of the school.

The artworks represent photography, watercolors, acrylics, charcoal, mixed media and oil pastel. The subjects are varied, including portraits, animals and landscapes.

According to Jill McGarr, the library’s administrative assistant whose responsibilities include scheduling the shows, the library’s gallery is fully booked for 2024 and 2025 and has only one space left in 2026.

She emphasized that the other branches of the Medina County District Library also host displays of artwork and are usually not booked as far in advance.
