Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight we take a look at Battleground 2016. This was actually the first PPV to take place after WWE, for some deluded reason, made the ill advised decision to bring back the brand split, a decision that continues to haunt the company to the present day. But it hadn’t gone into effect just yet, so it was like one last hurrah before everything went to hell in a handbasket. First we had Sasha Banks and her mystery partner Bayley take on Charlotte and Dana Brooke. Bayley got a massive pop, and showed that she was ready for the main roster, which wouldn’t come until after Summerslam. But it was a really good opening match. There was also Natalya vs. Becky Lynch, in the aftermath of Natalya’s heel turn at Money In The Bank. This was a bit of a dull match, with the flat finish of Natalya tapping out Becky. This is an awful finish, and made no sense in the long term considering Natalya would essentially stay in the position she was in whereas Becky would become the top female face on SmackDown. There was no reason for Becky to lose here.

On to the Nightly.
