Ole Miss student removed from fraternity after racist gestures during protest

Ole Miss is in the search of a new basketball head coach.

OXFORD, Miss. - An Ole Miss student was removed from his fraternity after a video circulated on social media of the student making racist gestures during a protest. 

The social media video shows the student at a pro-Palestinian protest at the university performing racial gestures towards a Black woman. 

According to the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity website, they announced his removal. 

In a statement, the fraternity wrote: 

"Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters is aware of the video regarding the student protest at the University of Mississippi. The racist actions in the video were those of an individual and are antithetical to the values of Phi Delta Theta and the Mississippi Alpha chapter. The responsible individual was removed from membership on Friday, May 3."
