Assault

• Derek Van Hoy, 20, of Fairbanks, was charged June 25 with felony second-degree assault. According to charging documents, Van Hoy allegedly pushed a woman against a fridge by her neck inside a Dogwood Street residence. Van Hoy told Fairbanks police that he was upset with the woman because she slept with someone for cocaine and that the woman threw a can of beer at him, hitting him in the face. The woman said that Van Hoy was upset while drinking and playing video games around 4 a.m. and that she put his beer in the fridge so he could calm down. Both Van Hoy and the woman grabbed at the beer and flung it away.

• Jeremy Michael Morgan, 37, of Fairbanks, was charged June 25 with felony third-degree assault, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor interfering with the report of a domestic violence crime. According to court documents, Morgan is accused of pulling a bench out from under a woman, causing the woman to fall to the floor. Morgan reportedly raised a wooden stool and threatened to kill the woman with the stool. The woman attempted to call 911, and Morgan reportedly grabbed the woman’s arm to take the cell phone. When police arrived at the Talkeetna Road residence, they found the victim hiding behind a tree with injuries on their arms that were consistent with an assault.

• Joseph Paulo Frisone, 42, was charged June 26 with felony second-degree assault. According to court documents, Frisone is accused of throwing items at a woman while she was sleeping and yelling at her because she “would not have sex with him.” Frisone reportedly put his right hand around the woman’s neck and strangled her, causing her to feel faint, have difficulty hearing and cough up blood.

• Savian Trennell Quint-Notice, 34, of Fairbanks, was charged Thursday with felony third-degree assault. According to charging documents, Quint-Notice threatened a woman with a knife inside a parking garage on Lacey Street. A witness to the threats told police they heard Quint-Notice say “Woman, I will cut you. I will make you bleed.”

• Alissa Lynn Bustillo, 55, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault after North Pole police responded to a 911 hangup call on Eighth Avenue. According to court documents, Bustillo got in an argument with a man and reportedly punched the man in the head.

• Aiyanna Mae Lum, 19, of Fairbanks, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor third-degree theft after Fairbanks police responded to a report of a woman screaming on O’Connor Road. According to court documents, Lum and a woman were drinking alcohol inside a car and Lum became angry. Lum reportedly punched the woman four times in the face.

• Zackary Miles Sweat, 40, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal mischief. According to court documents, Sweat reportedly punched a hole in a bathroom door, raised his fists and screamed at a woman before punching two more holes in a closet door on June 9.

Change of plea

Peter Morris Captain Jr., 44, of North Pole, pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor third-degree theft, a reduced charge from felony second-degree theft. According to court documents, Captain paid for items worth $490 at the Walmart self-scanner around 11 p.m. Dec. 27, 2023, and did not pay for $1,154.25 worth of merchandise. Superior Court Judge Amy Welch accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Captain to 30 days with 30 days suspended and one year of probation. Captain is not allowed to go to Walmart as part of his probation conditions.

DUI

• Michael Paul Turner, 34, of Fairbanks, was charged June 26 with misdemeanor driving under the influence and misdemeanor first-degree criminal trespass. According to court documents, Turner reportedly called a woman more than 50 times in two hours and texted her that he was driving and “I’m so drunk” and “I haven’t looked at the road in a while” before entering her home without permission. Alaska State Troopers found Turner unconscious in a bedroom, where he was unable to walk on his own.

• Adam Filotumua Malig Misipati, of Northway, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor driving under the influence. According to court documents, troopers stopped Misipati near the Taylor Highway Junction for speeding and sped more than 100 miles per hour before he was pulled over. Troopers observed that Misipati had bloodshot, watery eyes, appeared nervous and smelled like alcohol. Misipati told troopers that he had drunk two beers. He failed standardized field sobriety tests and had a breath-alcohol content of 0.089.

Theft

Alyssa Faith Ellen Morry, 27, was charged June 25 with felony second-degree theft. According to charging documents, Morry entered the International Hotel and Bar — also known as the “Big I” — and took a money bag containing $887 from an open safe. Police used video camera footage of the theft to identify Morry near Cushman Street and Gaffney Road where $750 of the missing money was recovered.
