The body of Brigadier General Yakubu Rimdan was laid to rest at the weekend, in his hometown of Pil-Gani, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The senior officer was a revered figure, described by family members, friends, and comrades as a patriarch, an icon, and a unifier who took pleasure in the welfare and well-being of others.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja in his condolence message, described the late Brig Gen Rimdan as a patriotic senior officer who left a legacy of excellence within the military.

He commended the late officer’s leadership qualities, highlighting his moral integrity and commitment to service to his dear country.

Represented by the Commander of 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, Brig Gen E. Egbe, the COAS expressed his condolences to the family and noted that the passing on of General Rimdan was a significant loss to the Nigerian Army, encouraging the family to find comfort in the exemplary life lived by the late officer which was worthy of emulation.

During a wake-keeping prayer held in Jos, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar who represented the Chief of Defence Staff, paid tribute to Brigadier General Rimdan’s dedicated service to the nation, describing the late officer as a unifier and a detribalized Nigerian, emphasizing the irreplaceable gap left by his death.

The clergy, led by Rev Dr. Amos Mohzo, referenced the Book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 verses 1-11, reminding mourners of the inevitability of death and the importance of preparing for after life.

Mohzo also cautioned mourners against living a life without regard for God’s commandments, urging all to reflect on their own mortality.
