Music Star Recalls First Big Break with Help from Talent Manager
Nigerian music star Davido has reacted to a video shared by talent manager Paulo Okoye, where Paulo detailed how he helped Davido secure his first major deal, worth N10 million, when Davido only had one song, “Dami Duro.”
Paulo posted the video amid his ongoing dispute with controversial activist Verydarkman, asking Davido and others to choose sides. In the video, Paulo reminisced about the early days of Davido’s career, highlighting the hard work and persistence it took to land the deal.
Paulo wrote, “It’s all about hard work! Respect! Back then, Davido only had one song, ‘Dami Duro.’ I fought for that job for him! The company said no to me six times. I kept fighting until they finally said yes. I wasn’t born with a golden spoon; it’s just hard work.”
Davido showed his support for Paulo by commenting “fact” on the post. Davido’s elder brother, Adewale Adeleke, also known as Chairman HKN, added more details, stating, “Yep, our first endorsement, MTN, was done by you, sir @pauloo2104. You forever played a major role in David’s story! God bless you.”
