Chicago Med Faces The Departure Of A Key Star Amidst Significant Changes For Season 10

Chicago Med will see a significant change ahead of its tenth season as Dominic Rains, known for his role as experienced doctor Crockett Marcel since season five, departs as a series regular. It remains uncertain whether he will return as a guest star.

This development coincides with other major shifts in the drama, including the departure of long-time co-showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider, who have been with the show for nine years. Allen MacDonald will take over their responsibilities.

The exit of Crockett Marcel was foreshadowed in the season nine finale following a heartbreaking incident involving his young patient, Colin, who passed away after Crockett denied him a liver transplant due to an infection.

Learning of Colin’s father’s subsequent suicide and blaming himself, Crockett was encouraged by hospital head Sharon Goodwin to take a leave of absence.

In addition to his role in Chicago Med, Dominic Rains has appeared in four episodes of Chicago Fire and one episode of Chicago P.D.

Other actors departing the franchise ahead of the new seasons include Eamonn Walker, who portrayed Chief Wallace Boden in Chicago Fire, Rome Flynn as Derrick Gibson, Alberto Rosende as Blake Gallo, and Kara Killmer as Sylvie Brett. While Eamonn Walker will transition from his regular role to a recurring one with potential future appearances, Rome Flynn hopes for his character’s return.

He told Variety: “Just like all the fans, I was sad to see Gibson leave. He was a character I very much enjoyed playing. I had a wonderful experience during my time on Chicago Fire and have great respect for the cast and crew and hope to team up with Dick Wolf again when the time is right.”
