Manchester United are set to announce TWO new arrivals after the club’s return to pre-season.

A host of players have returned to Carrington on Monday for pre-season testing. Marcus Rashford is among those to have been spotted.

While a number of familiar faces have arrived for training, there are a few new arrivals. Red Devils icon Ruud van Nistelrooy was spotted being driven into Carrington ahead of his return to the club. The Dutchman is set to be appointed as one of Erik ten Hag’s new assistant coaches. He was joined by Rene Hake.

The former Go Ahead Eagles manager has left the club to also become a member of Ten Hag’s coaching team in what is a dramatic overhaul. While his move has not yet been announced officially, Hake has all-but confirmed his switch.

“The feeling I have is difficult to describe, but this is, of course, a great opportunity for me,” Hake told Voetbal International. “Working in the biggest league in the world, at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“It is also a wonderful reward for me. The fact that I can go to the top of the world from Go Ahead Eagles is unique. Of course, I am grateful to Erik for this opportunity, but it is not about us knowing each other well. We just have to do good work.

“Erik has a role in mind for me, we discussed that. As in any staff, all tasks are divided among the assistants.”

Van Nistelrooy’s own move has also yet to be announced but his switch has actually been confirmed by compatriot Wesley Sneijder. He said: "They are both good coaches. Slot did an amazing job with Feyenoord and at United, they are very confident with Ten Hag.

"He has extended his contract, also Ruud van Nistelrooy, I just got the news that he will be involved. So I think they can do a big job because they have amazing players at United. There has to be a team, they need time."

While Man United are expected to confirm both Van Nisterlooy and Hake’s arrival sooner rather than later, they could also be set to announce their first signing of the summer. The Red Devils are on the verge of signing Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Man United have reached an agreement to sign him, with personal terms and agent commissions agreed on. The Red Devils are now deciding whether to pay the release clause written into his Bologna contract or enter negotiations with the Italian side.

That has added further speculation surrounding Rashford's future at the club, the MEN last week reported that while United would like to keep the forward, they would be open to suitable offers. Rashford is due for talks with new United sporting director Dan Ashworth after his relationship with manager Ten Hag appeared to deteriorate last season.
