Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate in Nigeria, is rallying support for the United Kingdom’s Labour Party (LP) as the country approaches its general election on Thursday, July 4.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the dissolution of parliament on May 30, paving the way for the election.

Keir Starmer is the Labour Party’s candidate for prime minister in this election.

On Tuesday, Obi used his official X page to share an image that read, “Change will only happen if you vote for it,” encouraging his followers to “Vote Labour on Thursday, July 4.”

The UK’s political landscape has long been dominated by the Labour and Conservative parties.

The Conservatives, currently led by Sunak, have been in power for the past 14 years, appointing five prime ministers during this period.

The last Labour government was led by Gordon Brown from 2007 to 2010.

Starmer, who has been the leader of the Labour Party since 2020, is campaigning for a change of government.

The 61-year-old politician has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Holborn and St. Pancras since 2015.
