‘Insubordination’: NNPP extends Kano governor’s suspension

The National Executive Council (NEC) of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Monday extended the suspension Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state from the party to December 2024.

Yusuf, the only Governor of NNPP, was suspended in February 2024 for an alleged act of insubordination to party authority.

At the meeting held at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja, the NNPP also confirmed that the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, San Rabiu Kwankwaso has been expelled from the Party.

The confirmation of his expulsion was confirmed after the Fact Finding Committee (FFC) and the Conflict Resolutions Committee (CRC) submitted their reports to the National Executive Council (NEC) for ratification.

FFC and the CRC indicted the former governor of Kano state of a failed “Coup d’etat” and an attempt to forcefully hijack the party through fraudulent means.

The FFC and the CRS also found Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso culpable in the misappropriation of over N2.5 billion proceeds from nomination forms of candidates and campaign fund and donations for 2023 general elections.

Kwankwaso, Abba Kawu, Ajuje and Dipo Olayokun it would be recalled were dragged by the party to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC)for investigations.

The NEC at the meeting unanimously ratified and confirmed the expulsion of Senator Kwankwaso.
