Convicted felon awaits extradition in Miami-Dade over murder in Sarasota

DORAL, Fla. – A 54-year-old convicted felon wanted in Sarasota County was awaiting extradition behind bars on Saturday in Miami-Dade County.

According to Sarasota Police Chief Rex Troche, there was a fatal shooting shortly after 1 a.m., Thursday, near Dixie Avenue and 24 Street, in Sarasota’s Newtown area, and Kevin Holloway fled in a 2011 Nissan Altima.

Hours later, Holloway, who was considered armed and dangerous, was caught in Miami-Dade County. Correctional officers booked him at 7:55 p.m., at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center near Doral.

Correction officers held Holloway without bond on an out-of-county warrant. Holloway was facing charges of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and two counts of aggravated assault.
