Purplebloom Publishers launches book club in Ibadan

Purplebloom Publishers, Ibadan has launched its book club in Ibadan called the Literary Lounge.

The founder and creative director of the publishing house, Adejoke Oyekan, said Literary Lounge is dedicated to promoting literary and intellectual activities in Ibadan.

“We aim to create a space where book lovers can come together to share their passion for reading, engage in stimulating conversations, and participate in enriching literary events,” she said.

Oyekan added that the vision and mission of Literary Lounge are to cultivate a vibrant reading culture by fostering literary engagement, intellectual growth, and community through the joy of books.

“Book clubs can encourage people to read by organising book-centered events, organising book advocacy talks/campaigns and donating books,” she said.

She further said the lounge’s activities are monthly and members gather to read and discuss a selected book.

The president of Purplebloom Publishers Literary Lounge, John Oguntileye, seized the opportunity to encourage people to read and to leverage their lounge, which is open to people of all ages, to develop themselves.

Oyekan revealed that they have published over 70 titles in many genres including poetry, fiction, drama, children’s stories, teens, novels, short stories, nonfiction (business, faith), etc.

She further revealed that they are open to working with Nigerian writers and other publishing opportunities.
