Monsoon Update: Rain Lashes Delhi-NCR, More Showers Expected Till July 6 In THESE States | Check IMD Predictions

Monsoon has arrived in India. While the temperature has decreased giving a respite from the heatwave, several parts of the country are reeling under flood due to heavy rain. It is raining heavily in the states of North India. Rain showers also lashed Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has informed that rain is likely to continue in Delhi-NCR for the next three days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain in many districts of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh till July 6. Besides this, heavy rain may also be witnessed in West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla also witnessed heavy rainfall today.

Mangaluru in Karnataka received heavy showers this morning. The IMD has issued an alert for rain and thunderstorms in the city till July 6.

Notably, the monsoon reached Kerala and the Northeast region on May 30, which is two to six days earlier than normal. It progressed normally till Maharashtra, but then its speed slowed down due to which the wait for rain increased in Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh and the outbreak of severe heat in North-West India increased further.

There will be heavy rain in these states for the next four days

The IMD said on Tuesday that the monsoon will remain active over northwest, east and northeast India during the next four to five days. Very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till July 6.
