The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc has announced plans to deploy 20,000 meters to its Band A customers across its franchise area.

This was contained in a statement by the Head Corporate Communications, OlubukolaIlevbare at a meeting in the company’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

She said the meters, to be distributed at no cost to the beneficiaries, were aimed at closing the metering gap and also ensuring proper energy accounting.

“We bring you good news. PHED has set aside 20,000 prepaid meters for her unmetered customers on its Band A Feeders.

“This is aimed at closing the metering gap and ensuring proper energy accounting.

“These meters are free and are to be installed at no cost to the customer,” she said.

She, however, sent a strong messagewarning the general public and customers to refrain from tampering with metering installations.

She went further to state that illegal/unauthorised meter movement/meter relocation by unauthorised persons/customers would not be condoned by PHED.

The franchise areas covered by the PHED are Cross River, AkwaIbom, Rivers and Bayalsa states.
