Zamfara Lawmaker Decries Siege On Constituency
GUSAU – A member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Rilwanu Marafa declared that bandits have besieged Anka Local Government attacking communities daily.
Speaking with journalists, Marafa lamented that the majority of the towns and Villages in the local government have been flooded by bandits walking freely with sophisticated weapons.
The lawmakers said the presence of the bandits has posed a serious threat to peace and harmony as well as halted farming and other business activities.
“Majority of the political wards such as Wuya, Yarzabaya, Bayar Zaki and others, even the headquarters of the local government, Anka are not safe as bandits attacked and rustled cattle and kidnapped people,” he added.
He decried the activities of bandits in the area, saying it has become a serious concern to all and sundry as nobody was safe.
Marafa, therefore, appealed to the federal government to come to the support of the people in the area and the state to solve the problem of banditry in the state.
He regretted that the bandits had stopped local people from accessing their farmlands.
The lawmakers stated that the act of banditry has subjected people of the area to serious hardship, poverty and hunger as both farming and business activities have been threatened.
