Police Raid Criminal Hideouts In Delta, Arrest Robbers, Cultists, Drug Dealers

LAGOS – The operatives of Del­ta State Police Com­mand have raided various criminal hideouts in the state and ar­rested suspected criminals.

Among those arrested were suspected armed rob­bers, cultists and illicit drug dealers.

Bright Edafe, Police Pub­lic Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, confirmed the arrests.

Edafe, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said that op­eratives acted on credible in­telligence on the peddling of arms and an intended cult clash within Oteri Commu­nity in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.

He said that at about 2.30 p.m. on June 14, 2024, at about operatives on spe­cial assignment deployed to Ughelli, led by ASP Julius Robinson, trailed a notori­ous cultist and a master­mind of the intended cult clash to a hotel (name with­held) in Ughelli and that the suspect, one Felix Egbe (m) aged 37 years of Oteri Com­munity in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State and a member of Eiye Confrater­nity and also former youth secretary of Oteri Commu­nity Ughelli North, in the State was arrested.

He said upon interroga­tion, suspect took operatives to his residence where a Barretta pistol was recov­ered.

In another development he said that on June 18, 2024, about 0120hrs, operatives of Aladja police out-station received a distress call that some suspected armed rob­bers were carrying out a robbery operation in Aladja community.

“The district officer (D/O) alongside members of the community mobi­lized to the scene where the suspects Lucky Victor ‘m’ aged 20yrs, and Godb­less Oghenevegba ‘m’ aged 20yrs were arrested at Igw­ere quarters Aladja. One lo­cally made gun, cartridges, knife and the a suspected stolen phone were recov­ered from them. Suspects are in custody and investi­gation is ongoing.”

Also, he said that on June 13,2024 at about 2pm, while acting on credible information received on an outlet for distribution of illicit hard drugs in Asa­ba, operatives from the CP Monitoring unit responded and went to the scene where the following persons were arrested; Emeka Ozumu ‘m’ aged 49yrs and Patrick Otu­kam (m), 30years.

He said 13 bottles of Co­deine, 23 sachets of Trama­dol and other hard drugs were recovered from them, adding that investigation was ongoing.

The Ccommissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has meanwhile urged youths to shun all form of crimes.

He also warned they should stay away from sub­stance/drug abuse as it is dangerous to their health and also capable of push­ing them to commit various crimes.

In addition, the CP said operatives of Crack Squad, CP monitoring and raiders squad have been deployed to crack down on any drug peddling hideouts in the state warning that anyone found wanting would be ar­rested and charged to court
