Arsenal have made a shock move for Jules Kounde as they look to step up their transfer business this summer. The Gunners also have interest in Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori, Joan Garcia and Nico Williams as well as Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, their two key targets in the battle to sign a high-profile new striker to boost another Premier League title charge. They may also be close to a deal for Besiktas and Turkey starlet Semih Kilicsoy.

Chelsea are stepping up their interest in Alexander Isak as they work to complete a deal for Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, with Murillo, Archie Gray and Jonathan David also on the shortlist at Stamford Bridge. Omari Kellyman has now joined from Aston Villa - with Ian Maatsen going the other way - and will soon be followed by Marc Guiu and Aaron Anselmino, though Omari Hutchinson is set for Ipswich.

Manchester United are eyeing a deal for Matthijs de Ligt as an alternative to Jarrad Branthwaite and have also held more talks over moves for Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee. Liverpool are said to have made contact over Anthony Gordon, while Tottenham are front-runners for Eberechi Eze as they weigh up a fresh bid for Jacob Ramsey and West Ham want Jake O’Brien. Arsenal get response to shock Jules Kounde approach

Staying with Arsenal for a moment, the Gunners are also rumoured to have made a shock move for Jules Kounde.

The French defender’s versatility could be a very valuable asset indeed under Mikel Arteta and it would also be an annoyance to London rivals Chelsea, who pursued his signature relentlessly before he eventually moved to the Camp Nou from LaLiga rivals Sevilla two summers ago.

Arsenal are now believed to have made a surprise approach over Kounde, though journalist Gerard Romero reports that they have been told by Barcelona that he is not for sale as things stand.

It would apparently take a “high offer” for any deal to even be considered, with Barca waiting on the future of fellow defender Ronald Araujo - a player strongly linked with Manchester United.

Arsenal 'close to deal' for Besiktas striker Semih Kilicsoy

Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window, reports claim.

It has been a quiet start in the market so far for the Gunners, who have been linked with a whole host of high-profile targets but with no new faces materialising just yet other than the arrival of young goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard.

But according to Turkish outlet Aksam, Arsenal are now close to a deal for highly-rated Besiktas and Turkey striker Semih Kilicsoy.

They are said to view the 18-year-old as among the best young talents in Europe and could spend more than £26m to make a transfer happen after watching him closely over recent months.

Arsenal are now closing in a move for their first summer signing

It’s been a fairly slow start to the summer transfer window at Arsenal.

Obviously, the fact there are major international tournaments in Europe and South America right now does complicate matters but it’s not been the most active of starts for the Gunners.

Still, according to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are set to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, which could then see Aaron Ramsdale depart.

Aston Villa have announced the signing of Netherlands international Ian Maatsen from Premier League rivals Chelsea for a reported £37.5million.

The 22-year-old left-back was part of the Borussia Dortmund team beaten by Real Madrid in last season's Champions League final during a loan move from Stamford Bridge.
