Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN was introduced to me some time in 2018 when he came home for the burial ceremony of former Chief Judge of Anambra state, Late C. J. Okoli.
In the said 2018 I was the chairman of NBA Nnewi branch while Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN was the chairman of Lagos branch. Upon knowing each other, both of us became close and were exchanging ideas as chairmen of branches of NBA. Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN did wonderfully well as chairman of Lagos branch. He carried out a lot of reforms which till today, members of Lagos branch are benefiting from. To my knowledge, it was through his efforts that Lagos branch was placed on its current enviable position.
Honestly, when I was chairman of NBA Nnewi branch, Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN was very passionate about the welfare of members of my branch which is his home branch (Nnewi branch) He was always asking me on how he would assist the branch. He hosted our monthly meetings twice. Through his efforts, I was appointed to the Technical Committee on Conference Planning in 2019. I used the opportunity to get one of us, Mrs Eunice Ngene co-opted into the committee. It’s on record that in the history of Nnewi Bar, 2019 was the first and the only time two members of NBA Nnewi branch were made members of Technical Committee on Conference Planning. I used the opportunity to recommend one of us, Associate Prof. Nze A.U. Abonyi to the committee to be included in the list of speakers/discussants during the conference. This was the first and last time a member of our branch was to be made a discussants in the annual general conference of NBA. It was also through his efforts that a member of our branch, U.P. Igwe Esq was made a member of Young Lawyers Council.
That was the first and the last time a member of our branch was to be a member of Young Lawyers’Council. There is no gain saying that from the antecedents of Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN, if he emerges the President of NBA through our votes, his administration shall definitely carry every branch of NBA along his.
