As the vibrant summer season kicks into gear, the Boyle County Library is hosting an essential event to boost the blood supply and save lives. Donors are invited to participate in the Kentucky Blood Center drive, where every generous donor will receive a special 'Donor Vibes' T-shirt.
Event Details:
The city of Danville community blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Boyle County Public Library in the Heart of Danville Community Room, situated at 307 W Broadway St. in Danville. Blood donations tend to decrease during the summertime due to various activities and vacations, yet the demand for blood remains constant. With the rise in accidents and medical emergencies during this season, the need for blood transfusions is crucial.
Donor Benefits:
All participants at the KBC drive will be given a special 'Donor Vibes' T-shirt as a token of appreciation for their contribution to the summer blood supply. The blood collected during this drive will be used to assist patients in Kentucky who require blood products for various medical treatments such as surgeries, cancer treatments, organ transplants, and more.
Donor Requirements:
To be eligible to donate blood, individuals must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be in good overall health, present a photo I.D., and fulfill additional criteria. For 16-year-old donors, a signed parental permission slip is necessary, which can be obtained from kybloodcenter.org.
