Kwara Gov’t Distributes Farm Inputs, Targets 10,000 Farmers

The  State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has said that farmers across the 16 local governments of the state, totaling 10,000 would receive improved seeds, chemicals, and fertilisers this farming season.

Governor AbdulRazaq stated this in Ilorin during the 3rd distribution of farm inputs to local farmers in the Kwara State Capital.

According to him the gesture is part of the administration’s efforts to encourage bumper harvest and promote food security as farmers were the backbone of food security and sustainable economic growth and development in the society.

The governor said the first batch of the Special Rice Intervention Programme assisted over 3400 farmers with quality seeds, fertilisers, and agrochemicals, resulting in significant increases in rice production.

He explained that under the 2nd phase (FADAMA NG CARES), 600,000 beneficiaries were receiving support, including boats, seeds, agrochemicals, power tillers, and grinding machines.

Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the state government is also committed to boosting livestock productivity and market access through its Livestock Productivity and Enhancement Scheme (LPRES) campaigns in the state.

In his address the Executive Director, Centre for Community Empowerment and Poverty Eradication, Abdul-rahman Ayuba who spoke on behalf of other CSOs, urged the state government officials to ensure proper monitoring of the recipients to ensure the inputs and other supports are used appropriately.
