Scheduled for Friday, November 22, 2024, this prestigious event is a testament to the outstanding contributions and Excellence within the mining sector in Ghana.

Your participation is crucial as nominations for the awards, which are divided into 20 sub-categories across two main categories—public nominations and regulatory audit reports—are now officially open. The announcement was made during a stakeholder engagement and launch ceremony on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Mr. Christopher Opoku Nyarko, Director for Analysis, Research, and Finance at the Ghana Chamber of Mines, emphasized the importance of completing nomination forms accurately and ensuring compliance with submission guidelines. Starting Monday, July 8, 2024, nomination forms will be available for download from the Chamber’s website.

The awards highlight the significant role of mining companies, individuals, media, and other institutions in advancing the mining sector and contributing to Ghana’s economic development. Categories include Best Mining Company, Best in Innovation, Best Green Mine, and the prestigious Mining Company of the Year award, which recognizes comprehensive Excellence in environmental management, innovation, local content, and more.

Adjudication will be overseen by a board comprising representatives from the Minerals Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and civil society organizations and chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will honour a retired individual who has contributed exceptionally to Ghana’s mining industry throughout their career, demonstrating leadership, integrity, and strategic vision.

The GMIA underscores the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration between regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and mining companies. This commitment is aimed at sustainably advancing the sector and its impact on Ghana’s economic landscape, ensuring a prosperous future for all involved.
