The Spirit of Competition: The 2024 Transplant Games of America
This year, Louisiana transplant recipients are gearing up for the 2024 Transplant Games of America in Birmingham, AL, taking place from July 5th to 10th. Team Louisiana comprises transplant recipients, donor families, living donors, and professionals from the donation community, with over 30 athletes participating in diverse sporting events including cycling, swimming, volleyball, track and field, and more.

Celebrating Life and Donation: A Legacy of Giving
For over three decades, the Transplant Games have served as a beacon of hope and unity for individuals touched by the profound impact of donation and transplantation. Held biennially, the Games serve to commemorate the gift of life facilitated through organ donation and raise awareness about the critical need for life-saving organ transplants. With over 20 competitive events for recipients and living donors, accompanied by 60 special events, the TGA honors the indelible legacy of donors while championing the resilience of recipients.

The Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) is proud to have representatives on Team Louisiana, embodying the spirit of hope and healing through organ donation.
