Jadon Sancho would be happy to stay at Man United if Erik ten Hag is willing to resolve the differences between the pair.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Scotland striker Frank McAvennie called for the pair to put their issues aside after the winger’s “brilliant” performances for Dortmund.

However, he explained that there would likely be “no chance” that the 24-year-old would return to United while Ten Hag is in charge.

He went as far as to label Ten Hag’s stance “embarrassing” given the level of interest in Sancho’s signature.

This comes after reports claimed Barcelona have joined the race for his signature, while Football Insider also revealed Juventus are tracking his situation.

Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, scoring three goals and picking up three assists as he helped to reach the Champions League final.

Sancho was involved in a well-publicised bust-up with Ten Hag after the manager openly criticised his attitude and performance in training.

McAvennie has insisted the issue can be resolved, stating Sancho would want to stay if given respect, confidence and love from his manager.

“No,” he told Football Insider when asked whether Sancho has a future at United.

“He went to Dortmund, didn’t he? There’s no chance he goes back now. Not a chance while Ten Hag is the manager.

“He’s done brilliantly since he left and he was outstanding when he went on loan.

“I don’t understand why the manager can’t just put their difference aside and get it sorted, the two of them should go into a room and sort it out.

“The manager should sort it one way or another. You either go or you stay and fight for your place.

“I’m sure Sancho would want to stay if the manager gave him a bit of confidence. Just give him a bit of love and I’m sure he’ll want to stay.

“He’s a good player, and he’s what Man United need.

“But if he’s not getting that respect and love, a move to Barcelona makes sense. They’re probably equal with Man United in terms of stature.

“It’s a bit embarrassing really, Man United don’t want him but Barcelona and Juventus do.”
