A man currently charged with aggravated arson could face additional charges, including murder, after Columbus police said he intentionally set a fire at an apartment where a woman was found dead.

The body of 53-year-old Edith Saintilus was found around 10:45 a.m. on June 27 inside an apartment on the 2000 block of Winslow Drive on the city's South Side.

Columbus police said Saintilus died at the scene.

Columbus Division of Fire arson investigators who had been looking into the cause of the fire determined the fire was intentionally set, police said, and those investigators found additional circumstances that led them to believe Saintilus' death was suspicious.

Police said an investigation determined 46-year-old Salvador "Jimmy" Dumond set the apartment fire.

The Franklin County Coroner's office determined Saintilus died as a result of a homicide after conducting an autopsy. Additional details about how Saintilus died have not been released.

The fire was contained to a single apartment at the Columbus Park Apartments where Saintilus was found.

Dumond was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated arson, a first-degree felony. Court records show Municipal Court Judge Gina Russo set his bail amount at $750,000.

Police said conversations will be had with the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office to determine if additional charges, such as murder, will be filed in the case when it is reviewed by a grand jury.
