UEFA to compensate Barcelona over Pedri's injury

tribuna.com 2024/10/6

From August 2, UEFA will begin paying Barcelona €20,500 per day until Pedri fully recovers from his knee injury.

That's because UEFA are mandated to compensate clubs if their players suffer injury while playing at the Euros.

The European football governing body are mandated to compensate clubs €20,500 per day for every injured player up to a maximum €7.5m for long-term injuries. This fee is to cover the player's salary and other expenses the club incur in treating the player.

Pedri suffered a knee injury five minutes into Spain v Germany Euro 2024 quarter-final. Barely an hour later, Spain confirmed that Pedri had been ruled out of the tournament.

Pedri will now miss Barca's preseason tour of the US and the opening weeks of the 2024/25 season.

At just 21, Pedri has missed 83 games for Barcelona through various injuries since 2021.
