Police jump fence to arrest alleged home invasion suspect

Dramatic bodycam footage has captured the moment police chased down and arrested an armed suspect after an alleged early morning home invasion.

The footage, released by WA Police, showed the officers responding to the incident in Camillo, in Perth's outer southeast, at about 3.30am on Saturday.

The police car thundered through the dark streets with its siren blaring as the officers pursued the suspects of an alleged home invasion. 

The video then cut to an officer checking an empty car on a street and saying: 'Suspect has ditched the vehicle.'

The officer then ran and jumped a fence into the backyard of a home where he himself climbing through dense shrubbery. 

In the yard, he was confronted with a man wearing dark clothes and a balaclava and holding what appeared to be a weapon.

'Drop the weapon now, or I will taser you,' the cop is heard shouting at the man. 

After a second officer arrived, the two pinned the suspect to the ground, with one yelling at the suspect: 'Don't move or I will tase you. Hands behind your back now.'

The shocking footage is part of an investigation into the alleged home invasion.

The police allege two males, one armed with a knife and one with a firearm, broke into a home on Natasha Way and threatened the three occupants before stealing some items.

'The offenders stole a Ford Falcon sedan and left the area,' the police said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.

'It will also be alleged the stolen vehicle was sighted by police about 3.50am in Thornlie and failed to stop.

'Police followed the vehicle and a short time later the vehicle stopped on Greenway Avenue in Thornlie. The male occupant of the vehicle fled on foot before being apprehended and taken into custody.

'The firearm believed to have been used during this incident was located on Clancy Way in Thornlie and has been seized by police.'

The 31-year-old man taken into custody has been charged with a range of offences including aggravated home burglary, aggravated armed robbery and reckless driving to escape a police pursuit.

He is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.

Inquiries are continuing in relation to the second offender.
