Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo State Chapter, Mr Kayode Martins has called on the Management of Sumal Foods, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan to direct the Nigeria Police to release the 12 workers detained as a result of the recent protest that erupted at the company few days back.

The NLC Chairman made the call while on a solidarity visit to the company on the protest that allegedly claimed life of a worker of the company.

While speaking with the Management, Mr Martins said the leadership of the company needed to identify with the family of the deceased and sympathize with them on the loss of their loved ones.

Mr Martins, however, assured the workers that their agitations had gotten to Oyo state government urging them to maintain peace and allow the government to handle the issue.

Responding, the Group General Manager, Account of the Company, Mr Akin Akintayo said the company was still mourning the death of its workers which he described as unfortunate.

It will be recalled that the workers of the company protested against the alleged hoarding of Federal Government Palliative for private companies which he described as rumours which led to the violence.
