Senator Okpebholo was accompanied by Senator Adams Oshiomhole and the Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh.

This visit followed a decision by an Abuja Federal High Court, which invalidated the primary election that had produced Mr. Asue Ighodalo as the governorship candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing the disenfranchisement of authentic party delegates.

Speaking to journalists, Senator Oshiomhole and Minister Momoh expressed strong confidence in the APC’s chances of winning the upcoming election, citing internal conflicts within the PDP as a significant advantage. They highlighted the grassroots appeal of Senator Okpebholo as a key factor in their favor.

Senator Oshiomhole emphasized that the APC had no involvement in the PDP’s internal crisis, which led to the court ruling. He stated, “This is a PDP versus PDP issue. Another party cannot interfere in intra-party conflicts in court.”

Minister Momoh noted that the APC’s candidate already had strong support in Edo North and Central Senatorial Districts and predicted a competitive battle in the South Senatorial District. He added that APC’s deputy candidate, Hon Dennis Idahosa, has a solid voter base in his local government areas.

Overall, both APC leaders were optimistic about their party’s prospects in the upcoming election, despite the recent court ruling affecting the PDP.
