YOUNG Islanders are set to benefit from Channel Islands Lottery funding after thousands of pounds were awarded to local children’s charities and the St Brelade Skate Park Project.

Four charitable causes for children across Jersey and Guernsey have received a total of £232,631 from the Jersey Community Foundation, the Association of Jersey Charities and Guernsey’s Social Investment Fund, who work closely with Channel Islands Lottery to distribute funding.

Jersey Community Foundation contributed £40,000 to the St Brelade Youth Project’s Skate Park Project.

Beyond the Les Quennevais skate park itself, the project extends its reach to various venues, providing a dynamic platform for youth involvement and encouraging social interaction, skill development, creative expression and healthy and active lifestyles among Jersey’s youth population.

Meanwhile, the Association of Jersey Charities has awarded £30,000 of lottery funding to Brightly – an independent charity that provides grants to children and young people who are being supported by the Children’s Services.

Their help creates positive experiences and opportunities to help improve children and young people’s daily lives and support them to move towards independence.

In Guernsey, the Social Investment Fund awarded £137,971 to the Trauma Recovery Centre and £24,660 to Amherst Primary School’s Parents and Teacher Association.

“By providing essential support and creating opportunities, these funds help to improve the lives of children and young people in Jersey and Guernsey.

“The dedication and hard work of these charities are truly inspiring, and we are honoured to be able to provide them with lottery funding through the distribution providers, to help support their excellent work.”

Since its inception, the lottery has empowered hundreds of organisations, community services and activities to access substantial and sustained financial support.

A total of £2.5 million is raised across the Channel Islands every year to support a diverse range of charitable initiatives across the Channel Islands.
