Can one actually compare Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe in the real sense of it?

At the most basic level, there are essentially three (3) main genres for literature – poetry, prose and drama – and each can be broken down even further, resulting in dozens of subgenres for each.

Wole Soyinka majors largely in drama, prose and poetry.

Chinua Achebe majors (note the emphasis on the use of present tense, because literature is life, and life is literature) in Prose and also did some works in poetry (unknown to many).

Both write on different subjects and each has his own peculiar style.

If I may ask, just before you analyse or criticise their works, how many have you read?

The two (2) literary giants are like the moon and the sun, each one functions in due course.

Your love/hate for either of them can NEVER diminish their contributions to the literary world at large.
